The Centre’s Play and Sports Service for children aged 5 – 11 years, is now entirely funded through the Centre, through fees and grants from charitable sources. We continue to provide an affordable term-time After School Service – currently including a Football and Fitness session for children aged 6 – 11 years on Wednesdays (5pm-6.30pm) and holiday playschemes for children aged 5 – 11 years during half-terms, Easter and Summer School Holidays. We are hoping to expand our After School activities on site from Autumn onwards, but are busy assisting Beckford School in the delivery of their After School Sports programme as a new pilot in the summer term.
Our Play and Sports Services has voluntary registration with Ofsted, meeting statutory requirements for our extended childcare during holiday playschemes. Our programme of holiday activities must demonstrate how we actively respond to the current educational and healthy living agenda for young people of primary school age including Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements. All staff and volunteers are CRB (DBS) checked, and have experience and/or suitable qualifications and satisfy our Safe Recruitment Procedures.
Football and Fitness Sessions for 6-10 yr olds: Wednesday 5pm – 6.30pm
This project offers indoor and outdoor facilities, with sessions being coached by experienced and qualified football coaches and sports workers. The session enables children to work & play within a team ethos, undergo age appropriate fitness training and learn a range of football skills. Children are also able to offer their feedback within a safe and inclusive environment.
Fees 5 week block sessions £12
Payment will be upfront and in full at the first session.
We run a holiday play service for children aged 5 – 11yrs, in all school holidays except Christmas. Depending on funding this can range from 2 – 5 days, from 10am – 4pm Monday to Friday. Activities often follow a theme, but all children attending are offered a varied and mixed programme of arts, cookery, fitness, sports, games and quieter activities to suit their abilities and interests.
Feedback from children and parents is always good, and places fill up very quickly. We have a great pool of staff, with a rich variety of skills, who are able to offer a high quality experience and childcare environment. Staff and children are able to take advantage of our accessible, multi-use premises and wide range of resources.
During the longer summer scheme, we can offer a programme of outdoor activities on Maygrove Peace Park, and also take children on outings to places of interest which they might not otherwise experience. We will be advertising the dates for our playschemes on this website under “news” but parents can always register to be on our mailing list throughout the year.
Prices vary according to the amount of funding subsidy available – but we always offer a concessionary rate to those families who are unwaged.
