Sidings Community Centre invites All members and users to the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 13th December 2017 from 6.30pm – 8pm.

6.30pm Supper Snacks & Films & 7pm – 8pm AGM

As Part of our annual reports there will be presentations from centre users to celebrate some of the achievements in 2017.

8pm onwards social with food & music.

We invite all who come to enjoy food and refreshments following the meeting.
There will be music, slideshows and a chance to get together to celebrate the year.
Please join us!   
If there is sufficient demand, we may be able to offer creche facility for parents with children aged 1 – 4yrs – please book in advance. Please also speak to staff if you are interested in becoming a member or trustee.

HEALTHY EATING COOKERY CLASSES

6 week cookery class

Learn how to make simple, healthy meals for all occasions on a low budget, while including a variety of ingredients with a professional chef.

From enthusiastic beginners to confident cooks – all are welcome!

Come along and create new and exciting healthy dishes enjoyed in a shared lunch.

Cost: £3.50 per session goes towards ingredients.

Sidings Community Centre is recruiting for 3 temporary posts:

1) Early Years Deputy Co-ordinator (temporary maternity cover post)
Start date October 17 until end August 2018
Applicants must have proven experience of working within a registered Early Years Childcare or Educational setting, minimum of NVQ3 or higher qualification relevant to working in Early Years, strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS), comprehensive knowledge of Safeguarding for young children, & demonstrate the ability to take a lead role within a multi-disciplinary team. Good IT & admin/organisational skills essential.

Salary: £27,300 pa – full-time 37.5 hours per week (Oct 17 to end Aug 18)

STARTING JANUARY 2017

This course is ideal if you are interested in, or new to working in Adult Social Care. It is aimed at developing your basic knowledge of the adult social care sector with a view to prepare you for voluntary or paid work in the sector.

Course Fees: Free for those on benefits – proof must be provided 
(Housing Benefits, Income Support, Working Tax Credit earning under £16,000 and Job Seekers Allowance) 

This course will cover 5 areas in Adult Social Care which are;

  1. Introduction to Adult Social Care.
  2. Introduction to the values and principles of Adult Social Care.
  3. Developing awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in Adult Social Care.
  4. Developing awareness of communication in Adult Social Care.
  5. Developing awareness of the role and responsibilities of the Adult Social Care worker.

You should already be able to follow verbal and written instructions, express ideas clearly in writing , through writing lists and short pieces of text, and pick out essential information from a variety of texts (including websites and hangouts).  You should be prepared to discuss ideas in small groups and take part in a short speaking exercise.  There will be homework that will include some research and you should allow approximately 10hrs a week for self-directed study time.

CHILDREN AGED 5 – 11 YEARS:

Sidings Community Centre is pleased to announce that we are running a five day  Playscheme for children aged 5-11yrs during the Easter school holidays. Details are below.

Dates:  Monday 3rd April Friday 7th April                           

Hours: 10am – 4pm

Cost for 5 days:

Camden Resident: Waged families £65 per first child/£50 for additional siblings.

Camden Resident: Unwaged families/Concessions £35 per first child/£30 for additional siblings.

Non Camden Resident: Waged families £70 per first child/£55 for additional siblings.

Non Camden Resident: Unwaged families/Concessions £45 per first child/£35 for additional siblings.

The centre offers a varied programme of activities in a safe and inclusive environment, in pleasant premises adjacent to Maygrove Peace Park, NW6.

 As our play schemes are very popular, and places are limited, we would be most grateful if you could indicate whether you want your child/ren to attend the playscheme by filling out a form and make a full payment to us by Wednesday 29th March. 

Playschemes are traditionally very popular and we give priority to Camden residents and users of our children’s service for this type of provision.

There will be a range of activities including structured sessions, enabling children to have the opportunity to try out a range of sports, arts and other activities – led by a team of trained coaches and qualified staff.
