Rainwater Sewer Replacement  – leading to temporary Road Closure of Maygrove Road from Ariel Road junction to No 80 Maygrove Road  proposed from Jan 30th – end April (12 weeks)

This is to inform all our users that there will be building works starting, possibly as early as Thursday 30th January 2014, associated with the re-development of 65-67 Maygrove Road. The early part of this development will involve the replacement of the rainwater sewer which runs through Maygrove Peace Park down to Maygrove Road.  This will mean fencing off a small part of the Peace Park near to Liddell Road Industrial Estate and also involve some earth removal using the top pathway.  Most of the work will be underground and we have been assured this should not cause any disruption or access to the centre or park facilities – but users, especially parents, should be aware that this is happening.

However, this will also mean that Maygrove Road from Ariel Road junction to No 80 Maygrove Road will be closed for the duration of these works.

Centre Users and all local residents need to be aware of these works and this proposed road closure.  Whilst the centre was informed of the overall works, we were not aware of the scale of the road closure and have not received any formal notification of this until a copy of a letter was sent from a local person last night.  We have therefore taken it upon ourselves to notify all users and as many local residents as we can so alternative routes can be planned in advance.  We assume pedestrian access to the park and centre will continue at all times, and that the pavement on the south side of Maygrove will also remain open for residents to access their houses and provide a through route from Kilburn to West Hampstead.

We regret that this has been short notice and have sent comments regarding our concerns of lack of formal communication to various people and asked for more open and frequent communications about any major disruptions regarding all local developments to the circulated to the wider community.
